What to expect on the day

On the day of your horse’s session, we’ll begin with a relaxed chat about any specific concerns you may have. We’ll then observe your horse in walk, trot, on the lunge, and/or ridden, depending on what’s most appropriate for them. A hands-on assessment (palpation) follows, helping us identify any areas of muscle tension, stiffness, tenderness, or imbalance. This thorough approach allows us to build a clear picture of your horse’s physical condition before beginning the therapy.

Your horse will then receive a full-body massage using a range of techniques, tailored to their individual needs. We focus on key problem areas to relieve tension, support mobility, and enhance overall suppleness and well-being.

We then allow your horse to “process” the therapy in a calm, quiet space, while we’ll provide you with clear feedback. This includes aftercare advice, personalised exercise recommendations, and guidance on how to support your horse’s recovery and performance. For the initial session, it’s advisable to allow for 2 hours.

Follow-Up Sessions – Approx. 1 hour

If your horse is new to massage, or hasn’t had a session in quite some time—we recommend starting with at least two to three sessions (see Starter Pack below). While you’ll notice your horse feeling more comfortable, chilled and relaxed after the first visit, it’s usually after the second that the real, lasting changes become apparent. Through this focussed approach, we address not just the symptoms, but the underlying causes, helping your horse achieve optimum comfort, suppleness, and performance.

Follow-up treatments are shorter but just as important for maintaining progress and supporting your horse’s ongoing health and comfort. Regular sessions can help prevent injury, support recovery, and improve performance across all disciplines.

Please note:

  • Please avoid riding or exercising your horse within two hours prior to the session.

  • Your horse should be clean and dry. While perfect grooming isn’t necessary, an extra fee may apply if grooming is required on the day.

  • Riding immediately after treatment is not recommended, as your horse’s muscles may be more tender. Based on the session, we’ll advise you on suitable levels and types of work in the days following your session.
